When I don’t Know What To Do

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ may give you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him

Ephesians 1:17

Have you ever had times when you were stumped on what to do? Perhaps a crisis has hit your family and you are unsure of what would be the first right step. Or maybe you find yourself in a quandary in which you need to make an important decision and have no idea what to do. It’s in these moments that we must turn to God for wisdom and revelation.

Paul shares with the Ephesians his prayer for them, that God would give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him and that that their eyes would be enlightened to know the hope given to them, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and His immeasurable power to those who believe. This is a great prayer to pray for ourselves and others when we don’t know what to do.

God reveals to us what to do when we come to Him in faith about our situation. He gives us the grace to hear His voice and to trust in His direction. This doesn’t always happen right away, as we are constantly distracted by other things. However, when we stop and give God our full attention, He blesses us with the wisdom and revelation on the next steps.

As we consistently turn to Him for direction, we become more able to hear and know the right way to go. We can look back on all the times where God has shown us the right way and then trust in Him for direction in the new things. It’s not that God isn’t speaking; it’s that we need to turn to Him with more earnest attention for wisdom and revelation.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I need to hear from You. Show me Your wisdom and revelation in what to do. Please enlighten my eyes to understanding the next best steps. In Jesus name, amen.
