Sometimes we forget that we are living in the last days until something drastic happens to us personally or globally—then we remember. We remember that God still expects people to honor and obey His commandments. We remember that the world is gearing up for its final destruction that includes an antichrist as well as global anarchy. We remember that this world isn’t our home and that we will give an account one day before God for every word and action. Are we living up to Paul’s example (vs. 10-11) in these last days?
His teaching: are we really taking in sound Biblical teaching or are we more drawn to the gospel of comforts in health and wealth?
His conduct: does our conduct reveal right living or are we so much like everyone else that there’s no real difference?
His aim in life: are we aiming for worldly fortune or fame rather than spiritual rewards?
His faith: how does our daily life demonstrate true faith in God even when things go wrong?
His patience: do we demonstrate patience when we are tested by God to wait on Him?
His love: do we express love to those with whom we disagree or do we return evil for what was done to us?
His steadfastness: do we stand firm in our convictions even when people ridicule our faith or do we capitulate to their worldly point of view?
His persecutions and sufferings: do we suffer persecution for our faith in God or is our faith so secretly hidden that people don’t even know that we are followers of Christ?
Dear Lord, in these last days I want to be found faithful and true to Christ. I pray for the strength and wisdom to stand firm in the faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
