he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6

Even though God has used me to minister to others and He has blessed me above and beyond what I’ve asked or expected especially with my children—I’ve at times wanted to give up. I get tired of pushing myself only to not succeed in the way I imagined. Or I get tired of the struggle and I just want to throw in the towel.

However, because of the Spirit of God within me—I keep pushing forward and I refuse to give up. It’s not because I’m strong, it’s because He is strong and the Lord gives me strength to stand when I feel like falling. The Spirit reminds me that He will complete the work He started in me until the day of Jesus Christ.

Knowing God’s word helps by speaking the truth that He will never leave me nor forsake me, speaking the truth that all things work together for my good, or speaking the truth that God’s thoughts towards me are good not evil to give me a hope and future.

I want to give up like so many have before and after me. Giving up may give a sense of relief from the pressure, but it doesn’t alleviate the regret of not trusting in God to give me strength. I don’t give up because I’m a super spiritual Christian, I don’t give up because I want to end well. I want my testimony to encourage others to press their way through challenges and difficulty. I don’t give up because I want to hear one day, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

What about you? What’s driving you towards giving up? Have you tried God’s word? Have you experienced His power?

Can’t make me give up…

Prayer

Dear Lord, I don’t want to give up. I need Your power to help me withstand the pressure and press my way through these trials. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In His Service,
