Tools for Building up the Body of Christ

Divider
Encourage one another and build one another up.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Believers living in an ungodly culture have many things tearing them down every day. Our belief in God’s truths are ridiculed and exploited—causing many Christians to feel defeated. Because of this constant onslaught of our faith, we need to build one another up. What tools are necessary to do this?

Hammer of Love
“Love never ends.” (1 Corinthians 13:8)
Our love for each other can sustain us through the difficult days. Even when we have differences, we can still love each other.

Pliers of Accountability
“Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Genesis 4:9)
Being accountable to each other helps us continue to grow in the faith. Without the support of other believers, we can get comfortable in our sinful or selfish decisions.

Wrench of Embrace
“They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him.” (Acts 20:37)
As children of God, we can’t help but to kiss and embrace each other in the love of Christ. It’s intuitive for us to respond to each other as we are led by the Spirit of God.

Screwdriver of Peace
“Peace to all of you who are in Christ.” (1 Peter 5:14)
We don’t have to agree on every issue to be at peace with one another. It’s our calling and spiritual heritage to lean towards a peaceful resolution as well as live in peace together.

Chisel of Truth
“Speaking the truth in love.” (Ephesians 4:15)
Truth will always trump lies and deceit for every relationship. Yet, we strive for the truth wrapped in love rather than in judgment.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to use the tools for building others up in the most holy faith. Give me eyes to see where I can be a strength to my brothers and sisters in Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.
