I have taught you the way of wisdom.
What are the resolves of godly parents to their children? Sometimes it’s difficult as a parent to express the depth of our love. We want so badly for them to live a good life in the Lord and to avoid the pitfalls that the devil, the world, and their flesh have set out for them.
We set boundaries not to punish them; but because we want them to be safe. We give them advice, not because we know everything, but because we want them to do better than we did. We stay the course of living a righteous life, not because we aren’t tempted, but because we want them to know that with God all things are possible. As godly parents, we make the following resolves, so that our children can resist the influences of this godless culture and generation:
1) We resolve to live a righteous life without excuses. (Philippians 3:17)
2) We resolve to always pray for our children. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
3) We resolve to share the knowledge and wisdom of God. (Philemon 6)
4) We resolve to love our children unconditionally. (1 Corinthians 13:7-8)
5) We resolve to seek, receive, and give forgiveness to our children. (Ephesians 4:32)
6) We resolve to release our children to follow God’s calling on their lives. (Luke 2:22, 49)
7) We resolve to live in peace with our children and other family members. (Hebrews 12:14)
8) We resolve to know and live the commandments of God in the Scriptures. (1 John 5:3)
9) We resolve to participate in the serving and ministry to others in the faith. (1 Peter 4:10)
10) We resolve to speak the truth in love. (Ephesians 4:15)
Dear Lord, every resolve I make as a parent is only possible with your help. I pray for the strength, courage, and wisdom to be the parent You called me to be. Amen.
