Surviving in Faith

And without faith it is impossible to please him.

Hebrews 11:6

I’ve had a lot of life changes in the last few years. Sometimes it feels really strange because it seemed like yesterday when my life was as I planned it would be. However, things changed suddenly and I was making many major decisions in survival mode. Looking back, there are some things I wished I could’ve done differently; but I was walking in faith as best as I could.

When we are surviving in faith, we can sometimes feel like we are one lonely boat drifting out in the open sea without a sail. Yet we aren’t alone because God is with us. He is with us even if we feel that we are off course and heading towards a storm. He never once lets us out of his sight, just like a good parent keeps a close eye on their toddlers.

Surviving in faith establishes a stronger relationship with God. Our prayer becomes more focused and consistent. The voice of God becomes more clear and distinct. His word speaks more directly to our lives than ever before. We become a lighthouse or beacon for others who are following behind us in the same state of mind.

Surviving in faith is filled with questions and second-guessing. Some things are made clear through time and trial. Others may wait until we stand before Jesus. Even in our instability of decision-making, we still hold onto the hope that He is making all things work together for our good. We refuse to remain in fear, but instead we take courage that God is in control.

Surviving in faith is more than what we would’ve wanted or asked for, yet it is exactly what we needed to grow up in the faith.

Prayer

Dear Lord, as I continue to survive in faith, I want to honor You with obedience and trust in Your word. Strengthen and guide me in Your perfect way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
