Make a Choice

Joshua 24:15

Have you ever known someone who likes to straddle the fence? They really don’t want to make a stand one way or another, preferring a middle ground. It’s frustrating to deal with them because decisions have to be made and followed on. However, when you have a double-minded person, you can’t move forward, which usually means you get behind.

Many people straddle the fence in their faith. They want to love God, but they also want to love the world. They want to obey God’s word, but they also want to follow after their own passions and lusts. They want the benefit of eternity with God, without the commitment of faith to follow His word. They really don’t want to make a choice. This shouldn’t be in the body of Christ.

Jesus spoke plainly that “Whoever is not with me is against me.” (Luke 11:23) We don’t get to play on both teams—we are either on God’s side or the devil’s. There’s no middle ground at all. If we struggle with coming completely over to Jesus Christ, it may be that we really didn’t get saved in the first place.

Our salvation is based on our confession that “Jesus is Lord” (Romans 10:9-10). If Jesus is Lord of our lives, then there is no question on which side of the fence we fall on. We can fall completely into the hands of Jesus to help us deal with our weaknesses, so we can overcome them and move forward. When we give everything we have and believe to the Lord, He works all the intricacies of our lives for good. We can’t go wrong with choosing Jesus with our whole heart. He will never leave us, let us down, or forsake us when we are tempted.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I want to give my whole heart to You for healing and cleansing. I pray for the strength to remain completely committed to You in my words and actions. Amen.
