Living through the Tough Stuff

Life can be tough and full of unexpected events. We may find ourselves trying to stay afloat in a sea of issues that make us feel like we are drowning. It’s Satan’s will that we succumb to hopelessness about our situations; yet, it’s God’s will that we overcome and press our way through the tough stuff of life. By His grace and mercy, we have the word of God to show real life examples of getting through it:

Abraham believed God even when it was physically impossible for an elderly couple to have a baby. Jacob returned to his faith when tested by a cheating relative and pursued by his brother.
Joseph trusted in God after being sold by his brothers, falsely accused of assault, thrown in prison, and forgotten. Moses was sent back to His people after running away for killing a man. Joshua was constantly reminded by God to not be afraid of his numerous enemies. David was anointed king; however, he spent many years on the run for his life. Esther put her life at risk when she made a plea for her people.

Living through the tough times of life isn’t new to those who are called by God. Our light of Jesus Christ shines most brightly when we are tested and stretched in our faith. We get through it by the power of the Holy Spirit who leads, comforts, and empowers us to never give up on the faith. We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ our Lord. When we make up our minds to trust in God’s word—we will move past just living through the tough stuff and thriving instead.

Prayer

Dear Lord, life is tough right now, but You are greater. Strengthen my faith beyond what I see so that my testimony will reflect Your glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
