I Need More!

How much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

Luke 11:13

Have you ever been at a place of needing more of God? Not too long ago, I found myself at a small prayer chapel crying out to God for more. Although I’ve matured in my Christian faith and have overcome many battles, I found myself struggling that day. I couldn’t immediately put my words into prayer because there were so many things going on. Finally, I came to the point of saying, “I need more!”

I needed more of God’s grace to get through the day. I needed more of God’s love in my heart for those who’ve hurt me. I needed more of God’s presence to keep my mind and spirit in peace. I needed more of God’s blessings to meet my spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. I need more of God’s Spirit to infiltrate my life.

Many times in our Christian walk we will experience a deeper need for God. This level of need transcends the common requests we make of Him. This need for more of God is about our yearning to know Him in a greater way than we’ve ever known. The capacity for God to give us more of Him is unsearchable and infinite. He knows the desires of our hearts and He can meet every one of our needs according to His riches and glory. (Philippians 4:19)

I realized in that chapel that I needed more of God to stand up and face my problems. Although my situation was tough, I sensed the hand of God guiding me in the right direction. It wasn’t easy—there were times I wanted to give up. Yet, because He was giving more of Himself, I was ready for whatever came next.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I need more of You every day and especially in my situation right now. Strengthen and guide me so that I can know You more. In Jesus’ name, amen.
