God’s Grace when we need it Most

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

2 Corinthians 12:9

One of my all-time favorite gospel songs is Your Grace and Mercy by the Mississippi Mass Choir led by Frank Williams. This song is a reminder that it’s God’s grace and mercy that covers, keeps, and guides us along this Christian journey. What does G.R.A.C.E. do for those who put their trust in Jesus?

G – Gives us renewed strength
“But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31) When we feel like we can’t take one more step, God’s grace gives us the power to move past our own weaknesses.
R – Rises us beyond what we can do on our own
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20) Not only does God’s grace give us strength, but He empowers to do beyond what we can do in and of ourselves.

A – Activates our faith
“We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing” (2 Thessalonians 1:3) When we began to truly experience His grace—we can believe God for greater things to happen in our lives.

C – Changes our expected and deserved outcome
“The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life” (1 Timothy 1:15-16) Our expected outcome may be failure and our deserved outcome is punishment, but through the grace of God we can experience a better than expected outcome.

E – Exposes the favor of God on our lives
“Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.” (Proverbs 3:3-4) When we know God, His brilliance of glory and favor is within us and shines outside of us in our homes, work, school, and community.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I pray for the grace to overcome the challenges I face in my life right now. I want to see Your glory revealed in the things I think, say and do this week. In Jesus’ name, amen.
