You shall not go unpunished.

Jeremiah 25:29

In our sinful world there’s terrorism every country from suicide bombers to child molesters—people filled with hatred. During the days of Habakkuk, there were terrorists against the nation of Israel. God used them to punish Israel for their sins; yet, He called out woes to those nations because of their barbaric acts. For those who bring terror upon people, God will not hold back judgement:

“Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house” (Habakkuk 2:9)
Those whose greedy hearts steal from families won’t go unpunished. God will repay them with what they have done to destroy the lives of innocent people.

“Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed” (Habakkuk 2:12)
Those who use weapons of war to take down innocent civilians for their own wicked gain will know the wrath of God. Although it may seem like God tarries, He will repay them for their sins.

“Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor” (Habakkuk 2:15)
Those who use drugs and alcohol to entice for their own lustful appetite, God will judge them in every race, culture, and social status. None are immune from the hand of God because of the generations of lives they’ve destroyed.

“Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Awake!’” (Habakkuk 2:19)
God isn’t blind to those who reject Him to worship creation or material things. He will deal with those who captivate innocent minds with lies and deception.

For those who terrorize, there’s an impending judgment in this lifetime and most certainly in the next. Yet, there’s mercy for those willing to repent and turn away from their wickedness “for all have sinned and fallen short of His glory.” (Romans 3:23) While there’s time—repent and be baptized (Acts 2:38) so that you may receive mercy while there’s still breath in your body.

Dear Lord, help us to maintain our hope in You in these last days. Strengthen our hearts to speak the truth in love to those who are living under Your judgment. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In His Service,
