Fight the good fight of the faith.
God has directed us to fight–not each other but to fight in the faith. Our trials, tribulations, and problems can be seen as opportunities for our faith to show up instead of our flesh. Fighting and resisting our enemies may not come natural for us. Many people may not understand this call to fight.
Fighting the good fight of faith is a call for us to not give up even when we are struggling just to stay in the war. Many times we feel weakened by the desires of our flesh and the disappointments of life that haven’t worked out for us. As tempting as it is to throw in the towel and give up, it’s important that we push ourselves forward in the faith.
Giving up doesn’t mean that we won’t have problems. Actually, giving up on the faith in the midst of a trial only means that our situation can get worse. Because even in the worst part of a spiritual battle, God makes a way for us to escape if we would only turn to Him for renewed strength.
We were never meant to fight by ourselves. The Lord is our constant companion throughout the tough journeys of life, and He sends people our way to help us as well. When we accept that the battle is part of being in the faith, we aren’t so thrown off our feet when bad things happen and we still grow in our relationship with God.
This fight is a good fight because God has a plan and He’s working it for our good. This fight is worth it because our loved ones will come to know God as we pray earnestly for them. This fight is a part of what we do as believers.
Dear Lord, I want to fight the good fight of faith. I need Your Spirit to empower me with hope, strength, and courage to move forward every day. Amen.
