Let my People Go

Let my people go.

Exodus 5:1

Moses was sent by God to Pharaoh with one main command: “Let my people go!” Because of his hardened heart, Pharaoh refused. As a result, the Lord executed great and terrible plagues against the Egyptians. Eventually Pharaoh released the Israelites and they plundered the Eygptians without ever having to pick up a weapon.

God is still commanding evil to let His people go. Many of God’s people are enslaved in satanic deceptions, carnal strongholds, and worldly mindsets that prevent them from freely serving His will. It’s similar to the slaves who were free after the American Civil War—some continued working as slaves for a time due to lack of knowledge. Many believers remain enslaved to sin because of a lack of knowledge in the Lord.

There’s no power in the heavens nor earth that can trump the freedom that is given through Jesus Christ. “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36) and “For freedom Christ has set us free” (Galatians 5:1)—we are not children of this world—who can’t help, but sin in their ignorance and lusts. We are free children of God without the heavy yokes and burdens of sin weighing us down.

The freedom from God allows us to wake up in joy every morning at a new opportunity to shine the light of Jesus. His freedom gives us the courage to break out of old mindsets of negativity and discouragement from our past. His freedom strengthens us to overcome Satan’s taunts to plant seeds of doubt about God’s love and power. His freedom gives us power to destroy sinful thoughts and behaviors so that we can live pure and righteous lives. We are free children of the faith and empowered by our heavenly Father to accomplish His great will.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I am Your child and I am free from the yokes of sin. Restore my hope and joy in the freedom given to me from Jesus Christ. Amen.
