Sometimes it’s hard to face our fears. If we do that means we can’t avoid nor deny their existence. Yet, if we don’t face our fears they will continue to stalk our minds, weigh heavy on our hearts, and make us ineffective in the faith. How do we F-A-C-E our fears?
F – Focus our thoughts on God’s promises not our fears.
“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)
When fear creeps into our minds, then we remind ourselves of God’s promise to hear our prayers and answer according to His will.
A – Accept that greater is God within us than all of the evil in the world.
“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
When fear of this world attempts to overtake our hearts, we can breathe in peace because God is in control and He will be with us.
C – Choose to believe God’s word in faith in spite of our circumstances.
“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)
When fear paralyzes our ability to move forward, we step out in faith—not seeing with our eyes, but knowing in our hearts that God will take care of us.
E – Expect God to show up in His perfect timing and way.
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)
When fear tempts us to doubt God’s goodness and grace, the Holy Spirit within us will lead us into all truth.
Dear Lord, strengthen my faith so that I can face my fears and move forward. In Jesus’ name, amen.
