Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.
As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are called to do more than just show up in our homes, schools, jobs, and community. We were reborn in the Lord to start and finish the good work that He has placed in our lives. Wandering aimlessly through our days is a sign that we have lost a spiritual connection with God. Every day has a purpose and plan for us to accomplish. How can we make sure we do more than just show up every day?
Step #1) Begin every single day with prayer. (Psalm 141:2)
Step #2) Read and meditate on God’s word throughout the day. (Psalm 1:2)
Step #3) Develop an awareness of faith-stretching opportunities all around you. (Numbers 14:8)
Step #4) Resist the daily urging to only please yourself. (Mark 8:34)
Step #5) Use your God-given talents to the best of your ability. (Romans 14:12)
Step #6) Motivate others with encouraging words and supportive actions. (Galatians 6:10)
Step #7) Be willing to do those things that most people try to avoid. (Ephesians 6:6)
Step #8) Embrace your life journey as God has called you. (Ephesians 2:8)
Because of the Holy Spirit’s power that is within each of us, we have the ability to do beyond what is asked or expected of us. This earthly life is short, and we aren’t promised a tomorrow; therefore, we need to take advantage of every moment and live it to the fullest.
Dear Lord, I want to be actively engaged in this life You have given me. Show me where I’ve been slacking in doing more so that I can reveal Your glory in all that I do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
