Are you a W.I.P.

And there has not arisen a prophet since in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face.

Deuteronomy 34:10

Moses had an amazing relationship with God and yet, he was far from perfect. He killed a man (Exodus 2:12), resisted his calling (Exodus 4:13), neglected the circumcision of his sons (Exodus 4:25), struggled with doubts (Exodus 5:22), and disobeyed God (Numbers 20:12). However, God still blessed Moses to remain strong even at the age of 120 years old. The Lord also allowed Moses to see the Promised Land even though he couldn’t step into it with the people. Moses was a work-in-progress (W.I.P.) just as we are in God’s kingdom.

As a W.I.P. we are prone to errors and missteps in our Christian journey. We may miss the mark at times and fail when we knew better. Yet, the Lord doesn’t condemn us; rather He lovingly reaches out His hand for us to take. We have choices in our relationship with God—we can repent and turn away or we can harden our hearts. He loves us too much to allow us to remain in sin, so He will discipline His children with painful circumstances if necessary.

As a W.I.P. we learn to give others more grace. We are hesitant to be the first ones to point the finger or gossip about the failings of other Christians. Even if we don’t commit the same sins, we know what it’s like to mess up and want to do better in the Lord. Therefore, we can lovingly restore the brokenness of others with patience and kindness.

As a W.I.P. we know that God gives us grace to walk this Christian journey. We learn from our mistakes to guard our hearts and minds from the same temptations. Our maturity rises us to the place where God can use us for His greater good.

Prayer

Dear Lord, it’s my desire as a work-in-progress to press forward in the faith. I pray for Your power in the Holy Spirit to show me the correct paths to walk. Amen.
