Do you need a Promotion

Divider
It is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.

Psalm 75:7

Many of us want or need a promotion and it’s not just about a job. We need a lift out of something. A promotion to our dreams and destiny leading to better thing such as going back to school, becoming healthy by losing weight, moving past an ungodly relationship or lifestyle. If we want better, then it’s time to follow the spiritual steps of a P.R.O.M.O.:

P – Pray for God’s agenda or plan above our own.
“Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 42:22)

There’s something about giving everything over to God that fills our hearts with peace and contentment. Regardless of how “good” this promotion—it’s nothing if it isn’t where God wants us.

R – Resist wasting time in worry and fear.
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” (1 John 4:18-19)

When we are ready to move up, Satan is ready to fill our hearts and minds with fear and anxiety. We have to resist fear and worry but meditation of God’s word in 2 Timothy 1:7 and Philippians 3:4-6.

O – Optimize your God-given talents in preparation for your promotion
“But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.” (1 Corinthians 7:7)

Every child of God has a gift and all gifts aren’t the same. When we are in the transition of our promotion, we need to step out of our comfort zone and begin to use our gifts in faith and courage.

M – Make lifestyle adjustments that will help in your promotion.
“Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.” (Ecclesiastes 7:8)

Some of us need to make lifestyle changes so that we can be ready for our promotion. The result of due diligence in taking care of ourselves in spirit, mind, and body will align us better with the newness of a promotion.

O – Open up yourself to the challenge.
“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Hebrews 3:15)

We need to push past our faults and failures of the past to move towards the beauty of our future. The Holy Spirit will lead us if we dare to trust in Him with all of our hearts—making our way towards the next promotion.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I’m nothing without You. Lead me into the paths of promotion according to Your will and not mine. In Jesus’ name, amen.
