Each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
A friend quit her well-paying job to stay at home to raise her children. A godly couple with two young daughters sold all of their possessions to move to a third-world country while they were still learning to speak the language. A young woman quit college to pursue the mission field. What makes people step out of their comfort zone to the realm of the unknown? Faith.
Each believer is given a measure of faith by God to do what He has called them to do. This measure of faith can be stretched way beyond what we think it should be for us. However, there’s no greater satisfaction than knowing that God is in control and moving out in faith because of it.
People who’ve found their faith and followed the leading of the Holy Spirit are often cautioned and sometimes ridiculed for it. Sadly, many of those doubters come from the body of Christ, most likely from those who lost their faith and need to recover it.
Rediscovering one’s faith in God is risky. Will He call me to a hard place? Maybe or maybe not. It’s not hard when the vision has already taken hold of your soul. You wake up to it. It drives you throughout your day and visits you in your dreams at night. What might seem to others as foolishness for us is the call and determination of God in our lives. We can’t find any other place for satisfaction and peace.
Where is your faith? Did you lose it when you found the dream job? Did you lose it when you got married and had children? The wonderful thing about serving our God is that it’s never too late to find your faith. It may have a different look and feel than when you first saw it, but it will manifest itself in the perfect way as you surrender to the Lord.
Dear Lord, I need to rediscover my faith in You for this life journey. Strengthen my heart with courage and peace as I follow your Word in faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
