When your Boss is your Daddy

What is like for those who work at the same company in which their dad is the CEO? They may or may not have to work their way to the top. The children of the CEO may still have to punch in like everyone else. However, they will always be different than everyone else at the company.

These children are welcomed straight to the big office at work. They can come home after work and eat dinner with their CEO parents. They can talk about their day—what was good or bad, what they see or feel, and how they think key messages are received at work. Before we start to get a little envious of their influence, we have to remember our real Boss.

Sometimes we get caught up in the drama and disappointments of our daily work whether at home, office, school, or factory. As long we are looking at men and women to make everything work for our good, we will be disappointed. People can’t sustain our happiness on a daily basis at work. People are human and make mistakes or fall short. They aren’t placed in our lives to make sure that it runs smoothly for us.

However, when God is our Boss and Daddy—the potential is limitless. We have the privilege of on-the-spot access to our Boss. We are favored in His presence. We can go to our Father in prayer for grace, strength, peace, and wisdom every single day. We can ask Him to give us the discernment and insight that He gave Daniel in Babylon. We can seek the strategic thinking that our Father gave Joseph in Egypt.

We are the children of God and we represent Him in our workplaces. Because we march to a different drum beat, we don’t have to worry in times of layoffs, changes, or economic downturns. Our Father is the Boss of the world and He will make a way for us out of no way.

Prayer

Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve lost sight of the fact that You are the Boss of my every day work. Sustain me in your hope so that I will walk in your presence. Amen.
