When Failure is a Gift

Divider
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.

Genesis 50:20

Sometimes when we fail—we don’t realize that our failures are opportunities for God to show Himself strong in our lives. We want the mountain top success stories to bring God glory. Yet, it’s in our failures that the Spirit of God shines the most out of us because we are not of this world and our responses reflect the light that is within us. What are the five ways failure can be a gift to those who follow after Jesus Christ?

Failure is a gift when God uses it to draw us closer to Him.
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:8)

Failure is a gift when God uses it to get us on the right track.
“Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths.” (Psalms 25:4)

Failure is a gift when God uses it to speak more clearly to our hearts and minds.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” (John 16:13)

Failure is a gift when God uses it to open our eyes to something better He has planned for us.
“Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:17)

Failure is a gift when God uses it to bring us to a place of repentance and consecration.
“Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.” (Psalm 51:4)

Prayer

Dear Lord, I need Your help to move past this failure and closer to Your will for my life. Lead me in the right way to go. In Jesus’ name, amen.
