While “with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8)—it’s not like that for us. We find ourselves wasting precious time on things that mean nothing in eternity. How can the following seven “times” help us invest our time wisely?
#1) Time to Choose!
“Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Let’s choose God and His ways over ourselves every day. He gives each person the ability to choose Him if we are willing to humble ourselves.
#2) Time to take Courage!
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Believers in Jesus Christ are mighty soldiers of faith in a world of sin. It’s our godly heritage to stand in the face of adversity under the power of the Holy Spirit.
#3) Time to Commit!
“Do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17)
Everything we do in our homes, work, school, and community is a reflection of our faith walk. We ought to be people of integrity, diligence, and respect wherever God has placed us.
#4) Time to be Content!
“Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.” (Philippians 4:11)
We are given everything we need to live in Christ Jesus. Our contentment isn’t based on having everything we want when we want it.
#5) Time to surrender Control!
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21)
Even if we think we are in control—we are not. God is in control even when our lives seem to be on the road of chaos.
#6) Time to Concede!
“Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)
True peace is a gift from God. Even when we are dealing with difficult people, God will show us the way to strive for peace especially within ourselves.
#7) Time to Connect!
“Not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.” (Hebrews 10:25)
Being a part of the Christian community wherever we live is vital to our faith walk. Our connection with other believers gives us opportunity to give and receive encouragement.
Dear Lord, help me to be wise with my time and not waste it on frivolous things. In Jesus’ name, amen.
