Where is our Hope?

We set our hope on you, for you do all these things.

Jeremiah 14:22

Have you ever been tempted to lose hope? Losing hope is the last straw for many of us—we could lose so many things in this world and still survive. Some of us have put our hope in people, but they have let us down. Many put their hope in money only for it to be stolen, lost, or spent. Others put their hope in their jobs only to be fired or laid off. Only our hope in God has present and eternal value. Without hope in Him we will struggle with moving forward in spite of adversities.

Our hope in God isn’t hidden nor outside of our reach. Hoping in God comes with the day-by-day walking and talking with Him. Hope is restored and renewed as we take the time to read His word every single day. Hope is invigorated through daily times of prayer and fellowship with God through His Spirit. Hope will not disappoint us.

Hope in God is solid when everything else falls apart. Our hope isn’t a shiny new gift that we will take back to heaven. Actually at times, our hope will be broken, bruised, and dented by the disappointments and tragedies in life. Yet, it will survive even in the worst of life’s storms.

If we are tempted to ever lose hope, we can do three things:

#1) Remember that God is always in control no matter what is going on.

#2) Renew ourselves in prayer and Bible reading every day.

#3) Restore our hope through the promises of God.

Prayer

Dear Lord, my hope has been wavering in my trial. I pray for Your strength to remember, renew, and restore my hope in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
