God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
When we worship God, we are ascribing His worth in many different ways. Learn about how we can W-O-R-S-H-I-P God:
W – Work every day as to the Lord. (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
We give worth to the Lord when we work diligently as if Jesus was standing in our midst. We worship Him because He is the One who gives us the strength and wisdom in our work.
O – Obey God’s word with all our hearts. (1 John 5:2)
We give worth to the Lord when we obey His word, regardless of what we feel or what other people think. Our obedience is reflective of our trust in His truth.
R – Remember the sacrifice of Jesus through communion. (1 Corinthians 11:26)
We give worth to the Lord when we take the bread and wine symbolizing His body and blood that was sacrificed for our sins. Communion is a worship of quietness and reflection of the depth of God’s love for us.
S – Serve in the body of Christ. (1 Peter 4:10)
We give worth to the Lord when we are engaged in ministry with other believers as servants. The grace given by God in our worship experience (especially in the church) is to be unified, orderly, and respectful of others.
H – Hold on to the promises of God in spite of adversity. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
We give worth to the Lord when we have faith in His promises, even though our circumstances are difficult. Our faith is made stronger as we continue to trust in His plan and purpose for our lives
I – Invest in God’s kingdom. (Romans 15:25-26)
We give worth to the Lord when we invest in the ministry with our tithes and offerings. Our worship of God reveals that our hearts are more with His kingdom than the things of this world.
P – Praise God with song and dance. (1 Chronicles 16:9, Psalm 149:3)
We give worth to the Lord when we sing, shout, dance, clap, and lift our hands with praises to Him. Our joy and appreciation of the Lord is expressed through our physical abilities.
Dear Lord, help me to worship You every day in every way that You are leading me. I worship You because You alone are worthy of all the praise, the glory, and the honor. Amen.
