A farmer who plants a seed doesn’t go out the next day and expect to see a crop. He realizes that it takes time for the seed to grow root and press through the ground. It’s the same for our spiritual walk in the Lord—it may be awhile before we see the fruit of our labor. We can get impatient and want to walk away from God’s calling—many times assuming that perhaps we missed God somewhere along the way.
Yet the truth is that we must wait patiently on the Lord for He is good and His mercy endures forever. God is above and outside of our time so He doesn’t feel the same urgencies that we do. Yet He is faithful to keep His promises if we would just put our trust in Him in spite of all the odds that are stacked against us.
Dear Lord, help me to wait patiently on you. Sometimes it’s tough and I need your assurance that you are in control and I’m not. Help me to trust in the measure of faith you have given me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
