Unfinished Business

Yet the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites.

Joshua 13:13

What has God called you to do that remains uncompleted? When the Israelites didn’t complete what God called them to do, their relationship with the Lord was affected and they lost what was promised to them. When our calling from God remains undone, we also will feel the consequences of our unfinished business. Our calling is unique to us and given by God with the expectation of completion.

God doesn’t waste precious time inspiring our hearts and minds towards His purpose for nothing. He is intentional that we follow after Him in faith with complete obedience. If we pick and choose what we will or won’t do for God, we will find ourselves busy and unfilled with activities that are less than His purposes. Let’s get back on track and finish God’s B-U-S-I-N-E-S-S:

B – Begin with prayer for God’s leading in the right direction.

U – Use our God-given gifts for His purposes and plan.

S – Seek godly counsel from mature believers.

I – Invest the necessary time, money, and energy where God leads.

N – Navigate our thoughts towards the truth of Bible scriptures.

E – Engage our faith to take action.

S – Step away from the pull of our sinful nature for self-gratification.

S – Seek how God may be glorified in the completion of our calling.

When we return to complete the vision that God has placed in our hearts, we find peace and contentment. Our joy is full when we are doing exactly what we were created to accomplish in the name of Jesus. Finishing our Christian journey well gives us renewed hope in this life and the next. May each of us one day hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Dear Lord, I repent for my doubts and procrastination. I pray for Your renewed hope, joy, and peace to move forward in faith to complete the calling You have on my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
