Top Ten Reasons to get out of the Boat

So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.

Matthew 14:29

The disciples were in a boat struggling against the wind when they saw Jesus walking on the water. Peter asked to get out of the boat and he was doing fine until he took his focus off of Jesus. Many of us are driven by the Spirit of God to accomplish His will—we are getting out of the boat of comfort and stepping into the unknown sea of uncertainty. What are the top ten reasons we should get out of the boat?
#10) We are in spiritual warfare. (Ephesians 6:12)
When you get out of the boat in spite of all the devil throws at us, we taste the victory of conquering Satan and we will never be the same.

#9) Our faith will grow stronger. (James 2:26).
Once we get out of the boat, we are actively moving in faith and God is looking for those filled with the fire for His purpose.

#8) We will hear God’s voice. (Hebrews 3:7-8).
When we step out of the boat—there’s only one voice that we need to hear—the voice of Jesus saying “come”.

#7) We will have a more powerful testimony. (Revelation 12:11).
Our testimony is powerful and it ignites passion within others to want to do more with their life than to just exist.

#6) We have a life purpose to complete. (Proverbs 19:21).
None of us were born to just exist, we were born to accomplish great things for God.

#5) We have other people waiting for us to get out of the boat. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).
Believers and unbelievers take notice when we step out of the boat towards the greater calling of God with His favor on our lives.

#4) Our life is shorter than we think. (James 4:14).
Because we don’t know how much time we have on this earth, we need to get busy with God’s purpose more than ours.

#3) We won’t be satisfied by anything else. (Psalm 34:8).
When we get off the boat, we get closer Jesus and the world will appeal less to us.

#2) We heard the calling. (1 Samuel 3:10).
Not everyone hears the call within to get out of the boat, we have to respond if we want to complete our calling.

#1) We were born for it. (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
It’s in our spiritual DNA to move and fulfill our calling on this life regardless of the storms surrounding us.

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to move forward in faith and get out of the boat of comfort to step towards You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
