Getting overly excited about changes in our planned events isn’t sustainable over time. Eventually our family and friends will get tired of our worrying and fear. We will find ourselves becoming more afraid to step out in faith and try new things. As a result, we miss the golden opportunities that life may bring in unexpected packages. To keep ourselves from this state of mind, we must B-E S-T-R-O-N-G.
B – Believe God first.
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.” (John 14:1)
E – Expect the unexpected.
“In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
S – Stay grounded in God’s word.
I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. (Psalms 119:15)
T – Take steps of faith with prayer.
“Think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” (Romans 12:3)
R – Recognize your one time life journey.
“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27)
O – Open your heart to hear from the Holy Spirit.
“Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation.” (Psalm 25:5)
N – Never let fear be your guide.
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” (1 John 4:18)
G – Go for it!
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Dear Lord, I’ve had moments of becoming unhinged because I haven’t trusted in You. Help me to walk by faith in this Christian journey.
