A Mother Makeover

An oracle that his mother taught him.

Proverbs 31:1

A billboard advertisement for a local plastic surgeon has the title “Mommy Makeover” with the photo of a woman’s stomach. Plastic surgery is a personal choice for any woman; however, a spiritual makeover is necessary for all mothers regardless of their age or number of children. A physical makeover is temporary, but a spiritual makeover can last throughout eternity. Take a look at the top ten makeovers for spiritual mothers.

10) Nurtures her children in the admonishment of the Lord. (Psalm 22:29)
Better than a breast lift, this mother begins teaching her children about God from their birth until her death.

9) Bears the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14)
With a spiritual breast augmentation, this mother is concerned with living a righteous life in front of her children.

8) Releases the aroma of Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:15)
With a spiritual nose job, this mother detects and leaves the fragrance of Christ wherever she goes.

7) Listens intently for God’s wisdom and direction for her family. (John 10:27)
With a spiritual ear surgery, this mother hears God speak to her heart through His word as she leads her children forward in the faith.

6) Keeps watch over her household. (Proverbs 31:27)
With a spiritual eyelid surgery, this mother keeps a close eye on the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of her children.

5) Considers herself dead to sin and alive to Christ. (Romans 6:11)
With a spiritual dermabrasion, this mother refuses to live a sinful life and instead chooses to live in obedience to God’s Word every day.

4) Refuses to harbor bitterness, anger, or slanderous sins in her heart (Ephesians 4:31)
With a spiritual liposuction, this mother gets rid of anything that would build a wall between her and Jesus or her children.

3) Radiates the joy of the Lord on her face every day. (Proverbs 15:13)
With a spiritual facelift, this mother encourages the downhearted and gives hope to the hurting.

2) Speaks the truth in love without being sarcastic or rude. (Ephesians 4:15)
With a spiritual lip augmentation, this mother is careful about her choice of words so that those around her are encouraged in the Lord.

1) Digs deep within for a spiritual renewal every day in His presence. (2 Corinthians 4:16)
With a spiritual tummy tuck, this mother feeds herself on God’s word so that she’s ready to share the Good News with those God places in her path.

Prayer

Dear Lord, as a mother I need Your presence to go with me every day. I long for Your holy scalpel to mold me into the image of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
