In these perilous times every day is a step of faith. We can’t always know what is around the corner in our homes, at work, or in our community. With so much going on, we can begin to let our faith in God weaken. If we are to be the light and salt in the earth, we need to continue to T.R.U.S.T.
T – Take steps of faith.
“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
It’s much easier to stand still in our comfort than to step out in faith in the unknown. Yet, taking these steps of faith strengthens our ability to trust in God.
R – Recognize God is with us.
“For he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” (Hebrews 13:5)
Even if we don’t always feel the presence of God, He is with us. The Lord doesn’t desert us when we’ve messed up or have moved in the wrong direction. He’s there always gently guiding us.
U – Understand that there will be ups and downs.
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Everything isn’t going to go our way all the time—this is life and we must learn to embrace the uncertainties. However, God knows the beginning and ending of our journeys.
S – Stay close to God’s word
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
The word of God is our comfort in the darkness and our encouragement to keep us from despair. Our hope is renewed as we daily take in and meditate on the scriptures.
T – Turn away from doubt.
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:6)
Many times we may find ourselves struggling in the faith because we keep allowing doubt to creep into our thoughts. We can resist doubt through prayer and God’s word to empower our faith in Him.
Dear Lord, I pray that my faith continue to grow in You so that I will trust in You with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
