To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am.
Recently divorced or widowed women can face great struggles in moving forward with their lives. This is especially difficult when the husband had been the main breadwinner, fixer-upper of the home, or in control of the finances. A woman can find herself in a vulnerable place where the only comfort she has is to curl up in bed and wish it all away.
However, many of these women not only have to take care of themselves but have children who need their care and concern. The children are hurting in their own way, and many times they will act out because of their loss of a father’s presence in a home. Her inability to make everything all right for everyone may cause a paralysis of decision-making.
A Christian woman in this situation is not alone, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, she can push past the pain to move forward. Though the journey can be difficult and filled with blind spots, her Lord and Savior won’t forsake her, nor the children. She will be strengthened and equipped by God as she seeks His face diligently for wisdom and courage. By taking God at His word one day/one hour/one minute/one second at a time, she will eventually find herself further than what she’d ever dreamed possible.
There’s hope for the woman who puts her trust in God completely without holding back. She will become a living testimony of His faithfulness to get her through the life journey.
Although it’s tempting to avoid the painful parts of separation, there’s hope and strength from God to get through it. Spending time with God in prayer and Bible study will be the first vital steps to push past the pain.
