Peace Is Necessary

When I was facing difficult decisions under extreme duress, I couldn’t tell right from left. I would hear the differing opinions of well-meaning brothers and sisters in Christ that left me even more perplexed. Finally, tired of feeling confused and frustrated, I asked the Lord for His peace in my decision-making process. While His peace didn’t remove the chaos surrounding me, it became the compass for direction in the dark times. We can know His P-E-A-C-E in the midst of making major decisions.

P – Petition God to answer our specific needs. (Philippians 4:6-8)
Sometimes when we are under pressure to make a decision, we are tempted to weigh in our pros and cons before we ask God to lead us. Pause and pray for God’s wisdom, insight, and direction first.

E – Entrust our petitions to God’s faithful hands. (Psalm 69:13)
After praying we need to release our decision to God and trust Him to help us find our way. His faithfulness in our lives can be trusted.

A – Acknowledge God’s control even when we don’t see how it’s going to work out. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
God is in control even when things aren’t working out how we thought they would. He can take the worst situations imaginable and turn them for our good.

C – Constantly focus on His promises and not our circumstances. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
Our situations are begging for attention so that we can fret about them. However, we meditate on the truths of God’s word instead of focusing on the problems.

E – Expect that God will ultimately lead us to the right decision. (Psalm 32:8)
In this life we will have trouble and trials, yet with Christ we are more than conquerors to overcome every roadblock. His guidance brings us peace as we make our way to the right paths.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I haven’t a clue on what to do in this situation. But You know all things, and I look to You to lead me in the right way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
