One Faith Step at a Time

But my righteous one shall live by faith.

Hebrews 10:38

The most difficult step of faith is the very first one. Our faith journey begins with one step towards God’s calling and purpose for our lives. We could spend most of our lives standing still behind the comfort zone line or we could move forward in faith. After the first step, we are motivated to reach the goal.

Faith in God goes up against everything around us. Our eyes, ears, touch, and perception tell us that we should play it safe and go with what we can see right in front of us. Yet faith in God compels us to believe in the impossible—and we keep praying, fasting, serving, and studying the scriptures regardless.

The temptation to quit is always in front of us. Yet because we are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit within compels us to keep taking those steps of faith. Faith isn’t blind as some would say. Rather it’s a solid belief in the living God who takes care of His own. Faith in God is never wasted and He richly rewards those who put their faith in Him.

Just as David’s courage to face Goliath was in part due to his overcoming a lion and bear with his own hands, we can also look back on the times that our faith in God has resulted in victory. Each step of faith leaves a trail of God’s grace and mercy that gives us the courage to keep moving ahead.

Our days on this earth are limited so we must press ourselves to living a full life of faith. A single seed of faith in God can result in an abundance of spiritual fruit for others as well as for ourselves.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I want to take that step of faith. I pray for your help to move ahead so that I can look back and know that I’ve come so far because of faith in you. Amen.
