He will also provide the way of escape
No matter where we live or visit, it’s always a good idea to pay attention to the exit signs. When there’s a threat that involves getting out of a place quickly, we don’t want to waste time searching for a way out. Our speedy response sometimes could be the difference between life and death.
Believers at all stages of maturity will be tempted and need to be aware of God’s exit signs. Our temptations come to us many times when we least expect them. In fact, Satan will patiently wait for us to be weakened by sickness, tiredness, or disappointment to tempt us towards sinfulness. However, we aren’t pawns in this game. God has made a way for us to escape if we are willing to pay attention to His exit signs.
Jesus Christ was tempted at all points and yet without sin. We have power through the Holy Spirit to overcome our temptations. Instead of pretending that we aren’t tempted, we need to confess them to God and to those whom we trust. Satan wants us to keep our temptations hidden so that he can work on our minds and continue to chip away at our faith shield with his fiery darts.
When we are aware of our temptations and refuse to let them dominate our thinking, we are heeding the exit signs. We take the power from Satan and are able to make concise decisions. Taking God’s exits will empower us to continue to grow in the faith and help other people take the correct exits when tempted.
Dear Lord, I’m often tempted to do things that I know aren’t right. I pray for the Holy Spirit’s power to take Your exits before I sin against You. Amen.
