This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
I confess that many times I get ahead of myself. I want to prepare my mind for how I think things are going to work out. In this way I can be prepared for whatever is coming my way. While it is good stewardship of our time, energy, finances, etc., to be adequately prepared for the future, there does come a time when we must completely surrender to God and simply live in the moment that we are given.
Our moments aren’t to be driven by anxiety and worry about our future. Instead, our moments are opportunities for God to show Himself strong through us. Our moments are a chance for us to love more deeply, forgive more often, and delve more deeply into our God-given purpose for living right now. As we live this way, we learn to cherish the moments we have with those we love. If we miss these moments, we may never have them again.
Living in the moment means we may have to let go of things that are good but not great for us. We may have to walk away from important projects and commitments that stand in the way of God’s calling us to His greater work. To live in the moment God has given us will help to resist being pulled into the busyness of life. Instead, we become more reflective and meditative of God’s hand over our lives.
Every believer in Jesus Christ is blessed to have the Holy Spirit within them. We live in the moment best when we listen and obey His leading over our lives. If we choose to live in the moment every day of our lives, we will experience greater blessings of God.
Dear Lord, I confess I’ve been busy moving from one thing to another without pausing to live in the precious moments You’ve given me. I seek Your leading me through the Spirit to live in the moments. In Jesus’ name, amen.
