A Little Touch of Jesus

Divider

Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.

Luke 8:36

After Jesus set free a man who was bound with a legion of demons, the man shared his testimony about being delivered. Jesus returned with a crowd pressing Him, including a sick woman who spent everything she had to get well. However, with just one touch of Jesus’ clothing, she was made completely whole.

Have you ever been in a place of prayer where you needed just a little touch of Jesus? We feel exhausted and weary from the daily battles of dealing with people and situations. We recognize that if we don’t get a touch of Jesus, we just might lose it. How do we get a little touch of Jesus?

1) We press our way to Him in spite of other people.
When the woman saw the crowd, she may have hesitated because she was considered unclean according to Jewish law. We also must care more getting to Jesus than what other people think.

2) We press our way to Him in spite of how we feel.
The woman must’ve felt the drain of her illness yet pushed herself forward. In the same way, we can’t let our emotional or physical feelings keep us from Jesus.

3) We press our way to Him in spite of our weakened faith.
The woman was disappointed with doctor after doctor. Her faith had taken huge hits in the past. We too have had other people let us down, yet we must completely focus on Jesus’ ability to make things right.

4) We press our way to Him in spite of possibly being called out.
Jesus knew He was touched specifically by her, but she needed to come forward with the truth. As we are healed by Jesus, our testimony needs to be shared with others so that they can also experience healing.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I press my way for just a little touch of Jesus. Help me to press in spite of difficulties so that I may be healed. In Jesus’ name, amen.
