I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living!
Does it ever feel like your labor is in vain? You pray and don’t see immediate results. You give and your finances are still in disarray. You serve and struggle with feeling the benefits of it. You forgive and those people continue to do wrong. Sometimes it’s enough to make us want to give up the faith.
Yet before we go there, let’s remember that God not only promises heavenly and eternal rewards–He also promises to show His goodness to us in this lifetime. His goodness transcends mere earthly treasures. The goodness of God is expressed when:
We wake up to new compassion and mercy every single morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).
We experience His peace in the midst of chaos (Philippians 4:6-8).
We know the beauty and comfort of the Holy Spirit’s presence (John 15:26).
We have true and lasting joy, even when we struggle with life (James 1:2-4).
We trust that God will keep every single one of His promises (Joshua 21:45).
We are never left alone, ever (Matthew 28:20).
We are loved deeply by God and nothing can ever change that fact (Romans 8:35-39).
We are completely, totally, and eternally forgiven of every one of our sins (1 John 1:9).
We can have every spiritual, emotional, and physical need met by God (Philippians 4:19).
We are blessed to be a part of the universal and local body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27).
We are born with God’s purpose and plan to be fulfilled (Jeremiah 29:11).
We have everything (good and bad) working for our good (Romans 8:28).
We pray in God’s will. He hears these prayers and answers them according to His plan (1 John 5:14-15).
We are on the receiving end of the Giver of every good gift (James 1:17).
We are free in Christ to accomplish great things for His glory (John 8:36).
Dear Lord, help me to remember Your goodness during my times of discouragement. In Jesus’ name, amen.
In His Service,
