Where is God

He will say, ‘Here I am.’

Isaiah 58:9

Have you ever been in a situation when you wanted to say, “Okay God, now is a good time for You to show up!” We get hit with one trial and before we can even figure it out, we are hit with another. Something we thought would be cleared up in three days has taken three years without a clear resolve.

This is a difficult part of our Christian journey. We may be tempted to believe that God has abandoned, forgotten, or forsaken us. What should we remember when it seems like God is on vacation?

We remember His faithfulness in our past. (Exodus 34:6)
When we are struggling, it’s good to look back on the times when God answered our prayers just when we needed Him to do so. As we remember, we begin to thank Him for His faithfulness and our faith will be strengthen and renewed.

We remember His unconditional love for us. (Ephesians 2:4)
When we recognize how deeply we are loved, it changes our perspective on whether or not we feel God’s presence. Our spirits can calm down and rest, because we know that our heavenly Father will never forsake His children.

We remember His supernatural ability to save, deliver, and provide. (Psalm 55:16)
There’s no one like our God. If necessary, He has the power to move heaven and earth. We don’t have to stumble in fear nor anxiety, our hope and trust in secure in God’s power to do above and beyond what we ask or expect.

We remember His inability to lie or even fall short of His promises. (Numbers 23:19)
God can’t lie and every one of His promises will come to pass. Our faith is empowered by His word when we know, obey, and live according to its principles. We can put all of our confidence in His promises.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I know You are here even when I can’t sense your presence. Help me to trust You regardless of the circumstances in my life. Amen.
