How to Find Truth

Have you ever been in a place where truth seems like its hiding from you? We are trying to make life decisions. Whom are we to marry? What are we going to do after college? What job should we take? Whom can we trust? Whom is telling us the truth? Who is lying to us? Should we move or stay in this location?

As humans we are limited in our abilities to deduce what is the best choice to make. Yet as believers we are filled with the Holy Spirit, Who will guide us into all truth. The Spirit of truth knows everything about us, our family and friends, and the world. Nothing is hidden from the Lord. Because we are His children, we have access to Him and He will lead us onto the right path.

Our first step is to submit our hearts and minds to Him to hear truth. If there’s sin or pride in us, we need to confess and be cleansed from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). God’s truth is more readily clear to us when we aren’t carrying the baggage of unrighteous living.

We then submit all our wants and desires before Him. Many times we can’t find truth because we are consumed with getting what we want from God instead of seeking what He wants from us. The Lord is aware of our hearts’ desires, and He will align them perfectly with His will.

God has a plan for each one of us, a plan laid out with truth and clarity. We will find truth because His peace will engulf our hearts. This peace will lead us as we step forward in faith.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I don’t know what to do anymore; but I look to You to lead me into all truth. My hope and faith is in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
