When God Answers with ‘Wait’

Waiting isn’t fun whether it’s waiting in traffic, the grocery line, or the doctor’s office. It’s even more difficult when we are waiting on God to answer our prayers. When we don’t have a definite yes or no, we may feel like we are in a place of limbo. However a ‘wait’ answer from God doesn’t mean we don’t have anything to do. Waiting on God is an opportunity for us to grow stronger and more mature in our faith. It stretches our trust in God’s best timing. It would be good to W-A-I-T in the Lord:

W- Walk closer to God. (Psalm 37:4)
Our most intimate times will be in the quietness of His presence. This happens when we set a deliberate time and place to meet consistently with God. When we bring our Bible, notebook, and worships songs (or hymn book), we have everything we need to assist us to draw closer to Him.

A- Ask for a greater measure of faith. (Romans 10:17)
God increases our measure of faith when we make His word a more predominant feature in our lives. Our Bible should be opened more often during the week than just on Sundays. Waiting on God means engaging our hearts and minds to read, meditate, and pray specific scriptures every day.

I- Investigate our motives. (James 4:3)
Could we give up our request? Or do we clasp our hands tightly over it? God knows our hearts better than we do. If we hand our desire back to Him, He will mold and shape it into something much better than what we could’ve imagined.

T- Trust Him. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
When we consider God’s reputation in the Bible, in our life, and in the testimonies of other believers, don’t we see His incredible faithfulness? Has God ever failed us? We only see what is in front of us, but God sees everything. He’s got the big picture in mind and He won’t let us down if we trust completely in Him.

Prayer

Dear Lord, as I wait on you to answer my prayers, help me to stay focused on your word in prayer. Calm my anxious heart as I trust in you. Amen.
