Giving up is NOT an Option

Have you ever felt like giving up? Sometimes the pressure and responsibilities on our shoulders become too much to bear. We want to pack it up and walk away from all the stress and live free for the moment. It’s not that we don’t care, it’s that we care too much and don’t want to fail. In those times we must remember that feeling like giving up and actually giving up are different.

We aren’t alone because…

Abraham asked about his servant being his heir instead of the promised son.
Moses experienced distress from leading the Israelites to the Promised Land.
David struggled when his men returned to find their families kidnapped.
Job questioned God’s hand over His life.
Jeremiah lamented over and over at the devastation of God’s chosen people.
Elijah wanted God to take his life when he was pursued by Jezebel.
Peter was distraught in his heart and soul after denying Jesus.
Paul was deeply troubled from isolation and being forsaken by his so called friends.

Yet, each one of them pressed forward in the faith. It wasn’t easy and their faith in God was stretched. Just like them, our faith is being stretched if we are following Him with all of our hearts. It’s not when everything is going according to plan that tests our faith. It’s when our world as we know it falls completely apart and we can’t tell up from down.

When giving up overwhelms our hearts, we can turn to God for the grace to fight the good fight of faith. He brings peace and restoration to our souls. The Holy Spirit assures us that we are exactly where He wants us at this time and season of our lives. As we come to the end of ourselves, we find the beginning of God’s intervention to lead us in the right paths.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I’ve felt like giving up time and time again. Yet, I press on to fight the good fight of faith as You enable me through the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
