Enjoy Your Life in Christ

That my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

John 15:11

If we aren’t careful, we can forget that God wants us to enjoy the life He has given us. Self-discovery in Christ is exciting. We taste foods we never knew existed, we challenge ourselves out of our comfort zone, we stretch our faith in ways we once thought unimaginable, and we boldly pave the way for others to explore their destiny by our example. A seed of newness is dropped into our hearts that blooms into a refreshing start to each day. It’s like when spring has sprung. We can sense new life and opportunities birthing all around us.

When we give ourselves time to heal from past wounds and have fun again, the Lord repairs the spiritual, emotional, and physical damage we have suffered. Our healing process varies, depending on the severity of the wounds, yet in the Lord there’s always hope.

God gives us choices. We can choose to live in isolation from our family and friends. We can choose to focus primarily on surviving and not thriving. We can choose to be depressed and angry about everything we’ve lost. We can choose to waste countless hours napping or watching TV (be careful about that Netflix!). We can choose to feel sorry for ourselves and schedule regular pity parties every weekend.

Or we can choose to LIVE. We can choose to experience exciting times with old and new friends. We can choose to discover our calling and pursue it intently. We can choose to begin each day with renewed hope. We can choose to press into the Lord for the grace and mercy needed to reach our destiny. We choose to remember to have fun in the Lord.

Prayer

Dear Lord, forgive me for all the wasted days of feeling sorry for myself. Renew my mind and strength in You to enjoy my life to the fullest in Christ. In Jesus’ name, amen.
