The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

Psalm 27:1

Many of us have struggled with fear and have been so accustomed to its presence that we don’t know how to live without it. Yet this isn’t the will of God for His people. He’s called us to be strong and courageous. We don’t have to live in fear because God is with us wherever we go. If we allow fear to take hold of our hearts, we will lose out on the many blessings God has for our lives. What happens when fear becomes our friend?

#1) Fear will rob us of being perfected in love (1 John 4:18).

#2) Fear will keep us afraid of suffering for righteousness’ sake (1 Peter 3:14).

#3) Fear will prevent us from submitting to those in authority (1 Peter 3:6).

#4) Fear will make us scared of other people (Hebrews 13:6).

#5) Fear will paralyze us from taking action (2 Timothy 1:7).

#6) Fear will keep us from being bold about our faith (Joshua 1:9).

#7) Fear will keep us from trusting in God (Matthew 10:31).

#8) Fear will bind our hearts and minds (Psalm 34:4).

Fear isn’t our friend. It’s actually one of our worst enemies because it will rob us of the joy of knowing God better and overcoming our obstacles. We are empowered by the Spirit of God to trample over our fears and trust in the Lord for courage.

When we are face to face with our fears, we can speak the word of God to ourselves. His word will comfort and embolden us to move forward in spite of adversity. We are more than conquerors in Jesus Christ; therefore, fear has no place in our lives.

Dear Lord, I want to be bold and courageous instead of fearful. Strengthen me to walk in faith and not fear every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.

In His Service,
