Unspoken Broken

My spirit is broken.

Job 17:1

Many of us have suffered in silence with our brokenness. We have seen things we wish that we never saw or heard things we wish we’d never had to hear. Regardless of what we say or do—this brokenness seems to stay near.

Our Father in heaven longs for us to be healed and whole in our relationship with Him. For it is in Christ that we find true healing and wholeness to move forward in freedom. He went to the cross so that we could know what it means to be free in our spirit, mind, and body. The resurrection power that raised Christ from the dead is able to heal our brokenness. What are the steps to take for this type of healing?

Step #1) Know the Lord
“That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.” (Philippians 3:10) When we stop in our busyness to know the Lord—He changes us from the inside out and we are never the same.

Step #2) Know His word
“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) The word of God is a balm for brokenness—just the right word from the Bible can crush condemning thoughts and bring complete spiritual wholeness.

Step #3) Know His fellowship
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” The Lord longs to spend time with us—we can have sweet prayer and fellowship with Him.

Step #4) Know His love
“In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (1 John 4:10) God’s love is greater than whatever brokenness we are experiencing—we can know this deep and abiding love as His children.

Step #5) Know His voice
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27) The Lord speaks to our hearts and we are comforted—His voice can heal our brokenness.

Step #6) Know His peace
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7) Sometimes our brokenness can rob us of peace—yet the Lord pours out a peace that comforts us even in the midst of the storm.

Step #7) Know His joy
“For the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10) When we discover the joy of God—our brokenness is swept away because He gives us the strength to move forward.

Prayer

Dear Lord, lead me in the steps of healing from my brokenness so that my life will bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, amen.
