A Good Man

For the man will not rest but will settle the matter today.

Ruth 3:18

When Ruth joined her mother-in-law back to Bethlehem, she wasn’t going to look for a husband. Her motives were pure—to take care of Naomi as best she could. Ruth gave up her homeland, family, and everything she knew because of her relationship with Naomi. As a result, God sent her to a place where Boaz would take notice of her kindness.

When Ruth let Boaz know that she would marry him, he had to go through a process first to become her kinsman-redeemer. Boaz didn’t take a few years or months to weigh out his options to marry Ruth or not. Instead, he took care of business the very next day. Naomi told Ruth that he wouldn’t rest until the matter of their marriage was settled.

God has good men in His kingdom. There are righteous brothers who long to be married to righteous women. These good men will do whatever it takes to bring the right woman to his house. A good man like Boaz will recognize the fruits of a good woman’s labor in the Lord.

Just as God had Ruth at the right place at the right time—He will also bless His faithful daughters with the right sons. It’s the responsibility of single women who love God to be ready for that day with expectation that God will finish the work He started in them. Faith in God is to be pursued more than faith in a man. God will reward the good woman with a good man in His perfect timing and way.
