Have you ever been at that fork in the road when you didn’t know what to do? Should you go left or right? Make this decision or the other one? Sometimes both decisions seem good, but you have to make a choice. In those times, we can lean on God for wisdom to make the best decision we can at that season of our lives. Only God has all the answers—we pray and move forward as the Spirit leads. How can WISDOM help us when we don’t know what to do?
W – Walks us down the path that is in alignment with God’s word.
“For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6)
I – Instills in us the desire to do what we know is right rather than what is wrong.
“Doing wrong is like a joke to a fool, but wisdom is pleasure to a man of understanding.” (Proverbs 10:23)
S – Stops us from making foolish choices with long-term consequences.
“Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the markets she raises her voice…if you turn at my reproof,
behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.” (Proverbs 1:20, 23)
D – Directs us towards God’s will for our lives.
“Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.” (Proverbs 24:14)
O – Opens up new ideas and visions that we haven’t seen before in our lives.
“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.” (Proverbs 9:9)
M – Motivates us towards glorifying God in our words and actions.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.” (Proverbs 9:10)
Dear Lord, I don’t always know what to do, but I know that You have wisdom available to me to make the best decisions. Lead me in the way to go. In Jesus’ name, amen.
