Do what God Says

All that the LORD has spoken we will do.

Exodus 19:8

When was the last time you heard God’s voice to do something and you followed through with it? Sometimes it’s hard for us to know for sure that God is speaking because we are busy with life. Yet, when God speaks, we can’t shake it until we obey. When God speaks, our hearts are convicted with the truth we can’t deny. When God speaks, we find peace when our faith is stretched and we learn to trust Him more.

It’s easier to hear the conviction and direction of the Spirit than it is to do it. Following up on what God speaks to our hearts may cause us some pain, inconvenience, or embarrassment. However, because God has a greater vision on our lives and those around us—we need to obey.

When we asked Jesus into our hearts, we made Him Lord of our lives. We released our own will and ways to His bigger and broader plan. It takes a measure of faith to follow through with God’s commands. Yet, doing so makes our faith grow more and our confidence is less shaken when we hear His voice.

Hearing God’s voice and following His commands will also be in line with His word. The Holy Spirit will never lead us away from the truths of Scripture. It’s our responsibility to develop a knowledge and understanding of the Bible so that we won’t be led astray. When we follow through with God’s commands in the clarity of His word, we find that:

People are healed and set free from the bondages of sin.

People are restored to their families.

People are blessed and they become a blessing to others.

People are invited to church and find their spiritual families.

God is about building the kingdom of Christ through His obedient followers.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I pray for clear insight into Your word to follow and obey with my whole heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
