“You didn’t know it, but I was watching how you handled this situation.” As professing Christian women, we are being watched whether we know it or not. Being a believer doesn’t insulate us from the struggles of life, whether it’s marital separation, financial devastation, debilitating sickness, problems with our children, etc. God allows seasons of trials to grow our faith and draw us closer to Him.
Yet we have an audience: our family, friends, fellow believers, neighbors, co-workers, classmates, and children. Some of them wait for us to fail in the faith so that they can feel better about their sins. Some are struggling in their life situations and watch us to see if this God is really real. Most of our witnesses want us to succeed in the faith in spite of the storms of life.
We are human and have moments where we don’t always represent Christ as we should. God gives us grace to seek forgiveness and learn from our mistakes. It’s our consistent determination to trust God that gives strength to our testimony. Can we still praise God? Can we still pray in faith? Can we still feed from His word every day?
We can, and we will do those things as we lean on the Lord for strength and wisdom. As we handle our lives with grace and gratefulness to God, it rises as a sweet-smelling sacrifice to heaven and a witness to those who need to see Jesus in the everyday life.
We are on the stage of life with a great audience of potential believers. We aren’t perfect but are being perfected in Jesus Christ as we strive to please Him in all things, regardless of our life circumstances.
