If it had not been the LORD who was on our side
Many times in my Christian walk I’ve been challenged in my faith. God gives me a vision or insight that He wants to accomplish through me. While I believe it, many times I stand back and wonder how in the world this is going to happen. It’s like having something over my head that’s close enough for me to see; however, if I were to jump as high as I could, I can’t reach it.
When God gives us things to do that are just out of our reach, we know it can only happen by His grace and strength. If everything we do is always well within our ability to do it, we may be operating below our faith level. Anyone can trust and believe in God for those things they can do without much prayer or searching after Him.
The Lord gives us gifts and talents to accomplish our expected degree of work and effort. However, He also inspires and challenges us to never stop raising the bar in our faith. Some of us have felt the quickening of the Spirit to go back to school, apply for a leadership position, pursue full-time ministry, etc. Yet we are hesitant because it’s outside our comfort zone and will require more of our attention to God’s plan for our lives.
However, if we take the step of faith and relentlessly pursue God in the direction He leads us, we will reach that goal. Our joy will be full, our hearts will be amazed at His grace, and our vision of His purpose becomes more clearly attainable. We serve an awesome God Who is without limits for those who put their full trust in Him.
Dear Lord, I want to reach the vision that You’ve placed on my heart. I want my life to be full of Your purpose and plan for my life. Help me to trust You as I take those steps of faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
