Why we should keep Trying

And let us not grow weary of doing good.

Galatians 6:9

Sometimes it’s hard to keep trying when it seems like everything is working against us. At many times in my life, I’ve struggled with moving forward because it gets so hard at times. I find myself not wanting to care about the consequences of giving up. However, when I fall on my face before God—He always responds…always.

What I’ve learned about the ability to keep going when I want to quit is to switch the focus off of my circumstances onto who God is today, yesterday and forevermore. Because of who God is…you can keep trying as well:

God is Real.
“The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,
there is none who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man,
to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. (Psalm 14:1-2)

God is Good.
“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:4-7)

God is Faithful.
“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)

God is a Promise Keeper.
“For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

God is Love.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)

Prayer

Dear Lord, I pray for the strength to keep trying even though I feel weak. I trust in You as giver of strength, peace, and wisdom to move forward in faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
