Why are you a Christian

Divider
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation.

Romans 1:16

Have you ever stopped to think about why you are a Christian? If we aren’t careful, we could fall into the trap of becoming ashamed of our faith based on other people’s perceptions. So why are you a Christian? Why stay in the faith? Why practice the precepts taught by the Bible?

We are Christians because of the calling of God on our lives.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you.” (John 15:16)

We are Christians because we’ve been bought with a price.
“For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)

We are Christians because we believed in the birth, death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

We are Christians because we are sealed by the Holy Spirit as belonging to God.
“Who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” 1 Corinthians 1:22

We are Christians because our spirits identify and connect with God as our Father.
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” (Romans 8:16)

We are Christians because of our hope in eternal life.
“In hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began.” (Titus 1:2)

Prayer

Dear Lord, I am a Christian because of You. Lead me in the right ways so that I will never be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In Jesus name, amen.
